As the number of home sales in Houston continues to skyrocket, folks searching for the right house to call their home will find that a majority of those on the market right now are new.
Homes.com reported that Houston placed 8th in the U.S. for cities with the newest home sales, coming in behind New Orleans, Raleigh, North Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, Austin, Atlanta, Miami and Charlotte, North Carolina.
"The real estate market is absolutely on fire," Tiffany LaRose, a Houston-area real estate agent, told ABC13. "We're seeing things we've never seen before, multiple offers within an hour or two of properties being listed."
The red-hot market is especially good news for sellers in a competitive market with many buyers entering bidding wars.
Just last month, the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) reported that the city set another record for the largest increase of all time for one-month, year-over-year sales, according to Click2Houston. The HAR also said the city had a 12th consecutive positive month when it comes to home sales.
KTRH reported the average cost of a single-family home in Houston jumped 30%, bringing the price tag to more than $380,000. When compared to May 2020, single-family homes sales increased by 48.2%.
