Texas’ average home prices have increased more than $110k over the last 10 years, according to Texas Realtors.

The rise in median home prices was among the data featured in the A Decade in Texas Real Estate report by the advocacy organization.

“The Texas housing market thrived during the last decade,” Luis Torres, research economist with the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University, said in Texas Realtors statement. “It expanded at a record pace, achieving consistent home sales growth each year and strong home price growth during the decade.”

The report revealed that over 3 million homes were sold in Texas between 2011 to 2020, with the median price jumping from $146,988 to $259,188, respectively — representing an increase of 76%.

Homes also went from spending an average of 93 days on the market to 55 days, a 41% decrease.

The majority of homes sold during the past 10 years were located in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

The growth in the Texas real estate market is being attributed to a number of factors including population growth and new home technologies, Texas Realtors stated.
