Howard Hughes Corp. plans to build 263 homes to rent in The Woodlands to bring money to investors.
It is joining a rush of developers who have begun building homes for renters, the Houston Chronicle reported.
“The thesis is to provide tenants the flexibility of renting while still providing access to many of the offerings a traditional home can provide, such as three- and four-bedroom configurations, private outdoor space, and an attached garage,” Howard Hughes President Jay Cross said in the Houston Chronicle.
Bridgeland has been cataloged as the third top-selling master-planned community in Texas and 14th nationally.
“A typical renter might be an executive looking for a temporary housing solution, a single parent or young couples with a family seeking a temporary home as they save for their down payment on their first home,” Cross said in the Houston Chronicle.
Alongside building homes, Howard Hughes Corp. worked with Entergy, a Fortune 500 energy company, to expand its office. The goal is meeting Entergy’s growing needs and providing a base of operations for approximately 650 employees in The Woodlands, HelloWoodlands reported.
“We are fortunate to have Entergy as a member of [the] business community in The Woodlands,” Jim Carman, president of the Houston region for the Howard Hughes Corp., said in HelloWoodlands. “The strong momentum of our leasing activity continues to reflect the growing appeal of The Woodlands as an ideal community for corporations looking to grow their business and provide employees with an outstanding quality of life.”
