The state of Texas is leading the national real estate market in home sales.

Texas cities make up half of the top 10 on WalletHub's list of most attractive real estate markets in the nation. In addition, four of those top five Texas cities come from suburbs in the DFW area.

"North Texas is dominating the national real estate market," Approved America wrote in an Aug. 30 Twitter post. "Frisco, Denton, McKinney and Allen are four of the top 10 real estate markets in the country, according to a new study."

The list takes into account the local real estate market, which looks at median-home price appreciation and affordability and economic environment of the city, which examines job growth and other factors, according to Bloomberg.

“The low foreclosure rate, the large share of newer homes and the intense building permit activity in these cities were some of the factors that contributed,” Jill Gonzalez, WalletHub analyst said, according to Bloomberg. “These cities all have high population and job growth rates as well as low unemployment.”

The city of Austin ranked second on the list with a score of 73.08.

The city of Frisco, in the DFW area, led on both measures. On the other hand, Austin ranked 56th out of 300 cities in the affordability and economic environment category.
