Tomball Independent School District recently secured a new educational building after buying out a company's former industrial complex.
The old corporate headquarters of BJ Services was sold to the school district, according to the Texas Real Estate Research Center.
The 70-acre property is a class A office and industrial complex. Tomball ISD had announced plans of turning it into an elementary school and other educational facilities, according to TRERC.
“While the original plans of our Academy of Energy and International Business at BJ Services didn’t come to fruition, we are elated that with this purchase, our dream to continually provide more for all students from strong academics to CTE course offerings, will now become a focused-reality very soon,” Superintendent of Schools Martha Salazar-Zamora said in a press release.
Colliers represented the seller via Tom Condon Jr., Greg Cizik and Edward Edspn. Tomball ISD was represented with First Group Commercial Real Estate via Mario Arriaga, Realty News Reports said.
Tomball ISD is also considering moving its early college high school, Tomball Star Academy, to the new location.
“Adding (BJ Services’) large industrial park and cutting edge laboratory space will enable Tomball ISD to expand our Career and Technical Education programs and provide students with the hands-on training and facilities that are representative of those used in industry as well as support our goal of ensuring that students have the technical, academic and employability skills that lead to successful careers,” Karla Sandoval, the district's director of Career and Technical Education, said in the release.
