A Houston-based real estate company has announced it will develop a rail-served distribution building for RCR Taylor Logistics Park.

The 350,000-square-foot building will be on the proposed 750-acre rail park site near the intersection of U.S. Route 79 and FM 3349, west of Williamson County in the city of Taylor.

“350K-sf distribution building slated for RCR Taylor Logistics Park,” Providence Group Realty, the developers, wrote on Twitter.

The developers are in the process of developing Taylor Port Rail Park, which will be the first building at RCR Taylor Logistics Park.

Construction is slated to begin in January 2022 with NAI Partners, the developers in-house brokerage and real estate services firm, serving as the leasing agent on the project.

NAI Partners’ John Coglazier Jr., who will be handling leasing, told the Austin Business Journal that such a project would have been inconceivable five years ago, but the Austin area is an ideal region for the logistics industry.

“The big driver of this whole development is rail service. Austin has historically lacked rail service as an industrial product,” Coglazier said.

Coglazier added the development would interest any company looking for a warehouse on a rail spur.
