Houston-based realtor sales on single-family homes were up 1.5% in September compared to the same time last year.
The increase from September 2020 came from 9,226 single-family homes sold in Houston during September 2021. In total, for single-family homes, 106,883 were sold from September 2020 to September 2021, which was an increase of 18%, according to Houston.org.
“The Houston housing market continues to show strength as we enter the fall season, which is traditionally the time of year the market slows,” HAR Chairman Richard Miranda with Keller Williams Platinum said, according to Houston.org. “We are on track for another record year of sales, however higher home prices and the potential of rising interest rates could impact buyer demand in the coming months.”
According to Houston.org, 11,285 units of properties of all types, which include single-families, duplexes, townhomes, condos and residential lots were sold in September 2021, an increase of 1.6% from September 2020. From September 2020 to September 2021, 131,085 properties of all types were sold, marking a 20.9% increase.
The average single-family home in Houston sold for $372,408 in September 2021, according to Houston.org.
The average number of days it took the average home to sell went down from 51 days in September 2020 to 29 days in September 2021.
