Over the past two years, an ongoing story has been the desire for California residents to relocate to Texas. In fact, over the past 10 years, around 690,000 California residents have made the switch to Texas.
This is mostly attributed with policy changes and government restrictions that have made living in California untenable for many professionals and companies. Another large reason for the mass migration to Texas is the number of jobs available in the state, which has been a destination for large corporate relocations as well.
A Houston real estate agent commented on the phenomenon, saying, "Uhhhhh…..Ya think? Incredible to see what’s happened here in last 12-24 months. It’s not stopping, either. Particularly popular with former California residents has been Harris County. It has been the top destination for people moving to Texas from California, with 8,400 people relocating to the county recently.
In Houston homes are, on average, 57% cheaper than homes in Los Angeles County, making the move one that makes a lot of sense for people looking to obtain a higher standard of living for a lower cost.
