Richmond American entered the Austin market.

The first community will be called Carillon and will be built in Manor, near downtown Austin.

"We're excited to grow in the Austin area, and to offer homebuyers something different than what's been available before," David Viger, Richmond American Homes chief operating officer, said in a release.

Richmond American has been in the real estate industry for more than 40 years. As of Nov. 19, 2021, the company has built 210,000 houses. Home buyers that work with Richmond American to acquire their home have the opportunity of meeting with a professional design consultant.

The goal of the new community is to provide more options for home customization for buyers. Homes will have as many as five bedrooms and between 1,590 and 3,030 square feet of living space. Buyers will have the choice between ranch style and two story houses, according to a report from Yahoo.

The location of the community is accessible to the rest of Travis County due to connections to U.S. Route 290 and the 130 Corridor, according to a report from Yahoo.

According to a press release, Richmond American is a subsidiary of MDC Holdings. It operates in more than a dozen states. Other MDC subsidiaries offer mortgage lending, insurance and title services. The company is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
