The automotive component supplier company known as the AISIN Corporation has officially opened its newest manufacturing plant in the U.S. and its first plant in the entire state of Texas.
The 463,800-square-foot AW Texas plant is located in Cibolo produces high-quality transmissions for both automatic and hybrid vehicles, according to a statement from the company.
"I want to express my sincere appreciation to all who made this day possible, including the members of the state of Texas and city of Cibolo," Moritaka Yoshida, AISIN Corporation president, said in a video message at the plant's grand opening, according to the statement. "Despite some difficulties due to the pandemic, we were able to proceed with construction as planned and celebrate today, though on a smaller scale.”
According to the Texas Real Estate Research Center, construction on AISIN's $400 million AW Texas plant was completed in September.
The plant is expected to employ around 500 people at first, but anticipates to add an additional 400 jobs in the future, the Texas Real Estate Research Center reported.
AISIN has a location in Plano that houses offices for sales and marketing employees and logistics/warehouse facilities in Laredo, according to the statement.
