Joel Palacios, a resident of Houston, won a contest in July to practice the art of house-flipping by learning from a master millionaire private real estate investor Troy Kearns.
A house-flip means to renovate a house and to then sell it for a profit.
Houston Agent Magazine said Kearns will share his expertise with Palacios by renovating a house in the southwest Houston community of Meyerland, a four-bedroom 2,446-square-foot residence built in 1965.
Kerns said in a tweet that contains a video from his YouTube channel, “Watch the winner (Palacious) of the Millionaire Mentorship Contest go through the entire house-flipping process from inspecting the house, laying out and designing everything, shopping for materials, working with contractors and more.”
The Houston Agent report said Palacios will receive, in addition to learning how to do it, half the proceeds from the sale of the property.
“I am so grateful to be the first winner of the Millionaire Mentorship contest,” Palacios said in the release quoted in Houston Agent. “To be able to learn from an expert like Troy Kearns is a dream come true. Plus, after everything is said and done, I’ll be left with a sizable amount to kick-start my next flip.”
A FOX 40 report said Palacios has worked with Kerns after winning a drawing in the contest in July, to find a suitable house to flip. Kearns said he plans to use local Houston contractors for the house renovation project, which is to begin immediately.
Kearns attained national prominence after entering the real estate business in 2000 and has sold more than 2,000 properties in one year, and hundreds of real estate transactions since then, including commercial properties and private homes, most of them single-family dwellings. He has invested in properties in states including Washington, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida.
